Switching from Echo Knowledge Base to NiroHelp
Articles and categories from every knowledge base you run move across in one click. Then you get what Echo Knowledge Base doesn’t include: a ticket system, and an AI that replies to tickets from those same articles.

What comes across
- Every article
- Titles, slugs, full content, excerpts and dates, as ordinary WordPress posts.
- Categories
- Each category becomes a NiroHelp topic, keeping its parent and description.
- Every knowledge base
- All of your KBs import in the same run, into one set of topics.
- Draft and published state
- Unpublished drafts arrive as drafts, not accidentally live.
- Featured images
- The same image stays attached — nothing is duplicated in the Media Library.
- Authors
- Each article stays credited to the same WordPress user.
What doesn't: Echo’s own article and category ordering, its layouts and templates, article tags, any article ratings, and the split between separate knowledge bases stay behind — NiroHelp has one knowledge base, with its own layout to set up once. Your Echo install keeps all of it until you choose to remove it.
Four steps, about ten minutes
Keep Echo Knowledge Base activated while this runs — NiroHelp reads from it, and the Migrate button stays greyed out if it can't find it.
Install NiroHelp
Add it from your dashboard and activate it. Leave Echo Knowledge Base switched on.
Open the Migration tab
NiroHelp → Settings → Migration. Echo Knowledge Base shows up as detected, with its Migrate button enabled.
Click Migrate
It imports in batches in the background. A progress panel keeps count — you can close the tab.
Check and go live
Review your articles, choose a URL structure, then point your menus at the new Docs page.
Why it's safe to just try it
Run it on staging, or run it twice — the import never changes Echo Knowledge Base. Deleting the old copies is a separate step you take when you're ready.
Echo Knowledge Base is only read
The import copies content across. Nothing in Echo Knowledge Base is edited, moved or deleted.
Safe to run twice
Already-imported articles are marked and skipped on the next run.
Clean up when you’re ready
Once you've checked the import, Clean deletes Echo Knowledge Base's copies — after asking — and keeps every NiroHelp copy.
Handles big libraries
Imports in resumable batches, so hundreds of articles are fine.
What you gain over Echo KB
Echo KB is a knowledge base. NiroHelp is a knowledge base plus the support desk that usually sits next to one.

After the import
Four things to check before you switch your menus over.
Pick your URL structure
Choose the structure closest to your old Echo Knowledge Base URLs, then redirect anything that changed so search results keep working.
Check merged topics
If two knowledge bases shared a category slug, their articles now share one topic. Rename or split any that should stay apart.
Put things in order
Drag your topics and articles into reading order on the Topics and Docs screens, so the knowledge base reads the way you intend.
Run a Sync if you are on Pro
That pushes your newly imported articles into the AI index, so the chatbot and auto-responder can answer from them.
FAQ
Questions about switching
No — the opposite. Leave Echo Knowledge Base activated while the import runs, because NiroHelp reads directly from it. The Migrate button stays disabled until it detects Echo Knowledge Base is present. Once the import is finished and you have checked the results, you can deactivate Echo Knowledge Base whenever you like.
All of them are imported in one run. NiroHelp has a single knowledge base, so their categories become one tree of topics — and two categories with the same slug in different knowledge bases become one topic. If you need them apart, rename or split those topics after the import.
No. Echo keeps its own ordering for articles and categories, and the importer does not read it, so both arrive in default order. Drag them into place on the Docs and Topics screens.
Nothing breaks. Every imported article is marked with where it came from, so a second run skips anything already brought across. This is what makes it safe to re-run after adding a few more Echo Knowledge Base articles.
Clean is for after you have checked the import. It permanently deletes the Echo articles that came across, along with every Echo category and tag in all of your knowledge bases, and keeps every NiroHelp copy. It asks before it runs; take a backup first, because there is no undo.
Yes. Articles come across as ordinary WordPress posts with their content, so images, headings, lists and formatting carry over. Code blocks get syntax highlighting and images get click-to-zoom in NiroHelp.
The chatbot and the ticket auto-responder are Pro features. The knowledge base, the ticket system, and this migration are all in the free plan on WordPress.org — so you can complete the whole switch before deciding about the AI.
Try it on a staging copy first
Import your knowledge bases, look around, and decide. Echo Knowledge Base keeps working the whole time.
