New — the AI auto-responder now answers tickets on its own. See how it works

Switching from weDocs to NiroHelp

Your documentation tree moves across in one click — sections become topics, articles become docs. Then you get what weDocs never had: a ticket system, and an AI that replies to tickets from those same articles.

What comes across

Every article
Each page with nothing beneath it becomes a doc, with its title, slug, content, excerpt, dates and author.
Your section tree
Every page that has pages beneath it becomes a topic, nested the way it was.
Topic filing
An article is filed under its section and every section above it, so readers find it at any level.
Article order
Each article’s manual order carries across.
Helpful votes
weDocs’ positive and negative counts become helpful and not-helpful votes.
Draft and published state
Drafts, pending, private and scheduled articles keep their status.
Featured images
The same image stays attached — nothing is duplicated in the Media Library.

What doesn't: The text written on a section page itself stays behind, because a section becomes a NiroHelp topic — a name and a description, not an article. The order of your sections and weDocs tags stay behind too. Your weDocs install keeps all of it until you choose to remove it.

Four steps, about ten minutes

Keep weDocs activated while this runs — NiroHelp reads from it, and the Migrate button stays greyed out if it can't find it.

Install NiroHelp

Add it from your dashboard and activate it. Leave weDocs switched on.

Open the Migration tab

NiroHelp → Settings → Migration. weDocs shows up as detected, with its Migrate button enabled.

Click Migrate

It imports in batches in the background. A progress panel keeps count — you can close the tab.

Check and go live

Review your articles, choose a URL structure, then point your menus at the new Docs page.

Why it's safe to just try it

Run it on staging, or run it twice — the import never changes weDocs. Deleting the old copies is a separate step you take when you're ready.

weDocs is only read

The import copies content across. Nothing in weDocs is edited, moved or deleted.

Safe to run twice

Already-imported articles are marked and skipped on the next run.

Clean up when you’re ready

Once you've checked the import, Clean deletes weDocs's copies — after asking — and keeps every NiroHelp copy.

Handles big libraries

Imports in resumable batches, so hundreds of articles are fine.

What you gain over weDocs

weDocs is a knowledge base. NiroHelp is a knowledge base plus the support desk that usually sits next to one.

After the import

Four things to check before you switch your menus over.

Pick your URL structure

Choose the structure closest to your old weDocs URLs, then redirect anything that changed so search results keep working.

Move any section intros

If a weDocs section page carried intro text, paste it into that topic’s description or into a first article.

Put your topics in order

Articles keep their order, but topics arrive in default order. Drag them into reading order on the Topics screen.

Run a Sync if you are on Pro

That pushes your newly imported articles into the AI index, so the chatbot and auto-responder can answer from them.

FAQ

Questions about switching

No — the opposite. Leave weDocs activated while the import runs, because NiroHelp reads directly from it. The Migrate button stays disabled until it detects weDocs is present. Once the import is finished and you have checked the results, you can deactivate weDocs whenever you like.

Try it on a staging copy first

Import your weDocs library, look around, and decide. weDocs keeps working the whole time.
